Ancient Civilization

The Egyptian civilization is older than the Greek civilization.

Egyptian Civilization: The roots of the Egyptian civilization go back to around 3100 BCE, when the upper and lower Egypt were unified under the rule of the first Pharaoh. The Egyptian civilization flourished along the banks of the Nile River, where the kingdom was enriched by the abundant Nile River. This civilization gave the world monumental architecture like the pyramids and the Sphinx, advanced mathematics, and a rich cultural and religious tapestry.

Greek Civilization: On the other hand, the Greek civilization, as commonly recognized in historical discussions (focusing on the classical period), often is said to begin around the 8th century BCE, notably with the emergence of the city-states such as Athens, Sparta, and Corinth, and later blossoming in the classic period in the 5th century BCE with the cultural and philosophical advancements personified by figures like Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle.

In summary, the onset of the Egyptian civilization predates the flourishing of the Greek civilization by several centuries. However, it’s important to note that these civilizations did overlap and interact, and the Greeks were heavily influenced by Egyptian art, culture, and knowledge, especially after Alexander the Great conquered Egypt in 332 BCE. This interaction continued under the Ptolemaic Kingdom, a Greek dynasty that ruled Egypt for several centuries.
